Privacy Policy
Plain-language summary: we collect very little, we use it to run the site and our newsletter, and we never sell or share your personal information. The detail is below.
This Privacy Policy explains how VisitHealdsburg.com (the “Site,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit the Site. By using the Site, you agree to this policy. We are an independent travel guide and not affiliated with any winery, hotel, or restaurant we write about.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. If you subscribe to our email list, we collect the email address you provide. That is the only personal information we ask for.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect standard, non-identifying usage data such as pages viewed, general location at the city or region level, device and browser type, and referring links. This is aggregate analytics, not data tied to your name.
- Cookies and similar technologies. The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate and to measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the Site will still work.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the Site is used so we can improve it. Google may set cookies and process usage data on our behalf. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. We may also use Google Search Console, which reports aggregate search performance and does not identify individual users.
If you sign up for our newsletter, we use your email only to send occasional Healdsburg planning notes and updates. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Form submissions are processed by our hosting provider in order to deliver them to us.
Third-party links
The Site links to wineries, hotels, restaurants, and other third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Their policies, not ours, govern your interactions with them.
Your privacy choices
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted or cross-context advertising. You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or unsubscribe from our emails. Because the only personal information we collect is an email address you choose to give us, you can exercise any of these choices simply by unsubscribing or by reaching us through our contact form.
Data retention and security
We keep your email address only for as long as you remain subscribed. We use reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold, though no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Children
The Site is about wine and is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date below. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
